At UXPA-MN, we are dedicated to fostering the growth of the Minnesota UX community by providing valuable resources and opportunities for professional development. Through our scholarship program, we aim to:
- Empower UX Professionals: Financially support the advancement of User Experience Design professionals in Minnesota by facilitating their access to valuable continuing education opportunities.
- Nurture Emerging Talent: Support the growth of Minnesota’s UX community by providing emerging professionals with the essential training and education needed to excel in User Experience Design.
- Enhance Community Impact: Elevate UXPA-MN’s role as a cornerstone of community-building within our local industry, amplifying our impact through education, networking events, and vital support for professionals.
We invite you to apply for our scholarship pilot program. The application will be open from May 1 to June 5, 2024.
Overview
Why Apply?
Our scholarship program is designed to assist new UXers in their educational pursuits and career advancement. By providing this scholarship, we aim to support the recipient’s commitment to excellence in the field of user experience.
What is being offered?
A single recipient will be rewarded with a scholarship of $500, plus a year-long UXPA-MN membership (value: $75).
Who is eligible?
Applicants must be enrolled in any type of intensive program aimed towards beginning a career in UX. The program must begin within 100 days of the final day of the scholarship enrollment period (September 13). Current enrollees and recent graduates are eligible as well, for programs whose final day falls less than 60 days before the first day of the scholarship enrollment period (March 2).
Some examples of eligible activities include:
- Bootcamps
- Seminars
- Certification programs
- Workshops
- Continuing education
- Full-term degree programs
Applicants must be residents of Minnesota. Preference will be given to those applicants who are newer to the field of UX and demonstrate financial need.
Current UXPA-MN board members and their family members are not eligible.
How to Apply
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must provide the following information:
- Educational Program Information: including institution name, cost, topics covered, etc.
- Application Short Answer Prompts: complete the application prompts (available to view soon!)
- One Character Reference: Provide a character reference from a professional colleague, mentor, or supervisor who can vouch for your dedication to the UX field and provide testimonial to your character.

May 1st – June 5th, 2024
Application Process
- Prepare Your Materials: Gather estimated cost for course or institution, short answers, and character reference.
- Submit Your Application: Visit our online application portal during the application period of May 1st – June 5th
- Review Process: Applications will be anonymized and reviewed by our committee after the deadline.
- Notification: The winning applicant will be notified within 40 days after the application deadline. The presentation of the recipient will occur at the UXPA Summer Social in July!
Requirements for Award Recipients
- Receipt Submission: Upon receiving the scholarship, award recipients will be required to submit receipts for the expenses outlined in their application. Receipts must be submitted within 4 months of the scholarship award notification.
- Post-Education Presentation: Award recipients will be expected to share their learning experiences with the UXPA community within six months. This will be done through a remote video call where you will have the opportunity to present what you’ve learned, insights gained, and how this scholarship has impacted your professional growth.
- Use of Funds: Funds must be used for the specified purposes mentioned in your application.
