SUMMARY:Fathom Event
DESCRIPTION:Designing Safe\, Usable Medical Devices through Inclusive User Research\nWhen designing medical devices\, our industry has typically focused on two things: safety and usability. But does this go far enough to make sure the devices work for everyone who might need them? How might taking an Inclusive Design approach improve outcomes for all? Join us to hear real life case studies from the field that demonstrate how inclusive recruiting and research efforts led to novel insights about how people with different literacy levels\, wrist sizes\, and\, surprisingly\, different facial piercings informed design in interesting ways. \nClear definitions of Accessibility\, Universal Design\, and Inclusive Design will be shared\, as well as tips for selecting broad audiences and working with diverse populations of users. \nSchedule:\n6-~6:45pm: Arrival/social hour\n6:45-7pm: UXPA welcome and intro\n7-8pm: Speaker presentation and Q&A \n\nKat Jayne is a Principal Consultant at Fathom Consulting\, a human-centered design firm based in Minneapolis\, Minnesota.
