2020 THEME – HUMAN CENTERED AI

In this year’s theme, Human-Centered AI, we seek to explore design systems that are both highly automated and also allow a great degree of user control, to result in expanded human capabilities. If we can design AI experiences which are “reliable, trusted, and safe”, we can dramatically enhance human performance in the coming decade.

Over the last two decades computers have advanced a human’s ability to perform work, helped to ensure safety, and in some cases, have drastically lightened workloads. Interest in AI’s capabilities to expand human performance even further continues to increase. However, there is an accompanying fear that humans will lose control of the technology they create.

As UX practitioners, how do we harness the power of AI technologies, while staying true to our mission of keeping the user at the center of our experiences?

This year we plan to hold a full-day event, online via Webinar.

See more about the theme via World Usability Day website.
