Strange Terrain: Designing Navigable Data Visualization

There are hundreds of ways you could visualize your data, but as a UX practitioner you want to pick something your audience will understand. Like a lot of design problems, data viz forces you to balance the urge to use that cool chart with the need to serve your users. So, how much data literacy can we count on? What kinds of charts and graphs will people understand? Not surprisingly, the answer depends on the situation. At this event Jeff Harrison will take a look at some ways in which people orient themselves in different information spaces.
