Speaker Bios
Karla Ortloff
Karla Ortloff is the UX Design Manager for Thomson Reuters Legal, including the new WestlawNext - the world’s leading online legal research application. She has been active in the Twin Cities design community for over 16 years and is responsible for the user-interface design, front-end development and customer research of their online research tools, mobile site and iPad applications.

After spending years working in corporations and owning a web design business, Karla has experienced many flavors of user-interface design across many industries.  The past 7 years have been focused on designing complex, data-heavy websites for BestBuy.com and Thomson Reuters. The challenges of using less than ideal legacy content to design attractive, modern websites have influenced her “un-design” philosophy – keeping the design simple and focusing on undoing the damage of poorly designed content.

When she’s not designing, Karla enjoys traveling to new countries, trying new restaurants and feeding her addiction to online shopping.

He has been with Thomson Reuters for over 6 years in various product design roles. He also worked as an Information Architect at Best Buy.
