Join Samantha and Lori for a discussion as they talk about why they switched roles and some tips to keep in mind if you are thinking of changing roles.
Lori Baker has been working as a usability specialist in a variety of industries since 2002. Her specialties include strategy, user research, information architecture, interaction design, content strategy, and wireframing.
Previously, she was the Senior UX Manager at Best Buy managing UX Leads on the Commerce Product Team (cart through order complete), Profile (My Account), and US Web (Best Buy owned properties) for desktop, tablet and mobile platforms. Previous clients also include United Healthcare, Allianz, Thomson Reuters, and the State of MN.

Samantha Bailey is a highly skilled user experience design consultant with over 15 years of experience in a variety of settings. She provides a variety of user interface design consulting services, including: user research, information architecture, interaction design, content strategy, wireframing, and usability engineering. Recent clients include Intuit, Eaton Corporation and Summa Health System. In addition to consulting work, Samantha teaches as an adjunct professor at Kent State University in the Information Architecture & Knowledge Management program.
Previously, she was the Director of Usability at Thomson West for the Westlaw.com interface and Vice President, Information Architecture for Wachovia.com. Prior to joining Wachovia, Samantha was Vice President of Operations at Argus Associates, a pioneering information architecture firm. Her clients included AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble, Vanguard and the Weather Channel. She holds a master’s degree in library science from the University of Michigan.
